Chief Content Officer?
Kinda like he got the shaft. He started the phone forum template (not the site template, but getting people on phone crack), but RIM laid an egg. Now, because he's supported this travesty that RIM calls a product for so long, he's relegated to website content duty.
There's no way in my mind that Android even makes a dent in smartphone market share had RIM had a innovative direction. But when you have one quack who can't make up his mind and one quack who can forecast technology about as well as my dead dog you are headed for oblivion.

He's Chief Media Officer of Mobile Nations and according to the SmartphoneExperts website, VP of Communities as well.
Please explain to me how that's "getting the shaft".
Titles are sometimes a dime a dozen, what power the position really holds and how much it pays in relation to what other positions pay is what most often matters in the end.
it's kinda like the guy that starts a company, issues stock, then gets voted out by the shareholders. THAT kind of shaft.
BTW, anyone want to guess what kind of yearly revenue this website is gonna earn? Will CB get a share equal to that of say apple or android? Looks less lucrative with every delayed launch.

He oversees all of the communities though, not just CB...
Ya know what, forget it. Arguing about what kind of money someone I've never met or spoke to before just seems idiotic.
In my opinion, I think Kevin should be courted by RIM to head Product and brand Vision. He has his finger on the pulse of the average BB user as well as being a long time user himself. He has tapped into the largest community of BB users for so long, heard the accolades of every triumph .... and the groans of every mis-step from RIM. What do you think Kev? ... Nice corner office?
Kevin would bring too much accountability to RIM. They're too stuck in, we'll tell you what you need and you'll like it.
It is a bummer that things change. But, the best thing to do is improve your position to the best of your ability and move on. I do hope that RIM hits the grand slam in the bottom of the ninth down by 3 with 2 outs, rather than striking out, with bbx. It is to that point Imo.

Kevin I think u should apply for a job at Rim . In the right position u could really clean up there act.
Dave- I wish you would stop being such a ****. It is disrespectful of you to continually come in here and bash us because we happen to like our phones. If you like yours so much- why don't you go into forums that support your wonderful Bionic and glean from others like yourself.
This is why people call what you do trolling. You are not adding anything good to these forums. You certainly CAN have your opinion- but come on already. You and Katiepea really have nothing to say unless it is to dis RIM. At one time you were a fanboy too and used to actually come here and help people out. Now......smh.........:(
Obligatory RIM job comment added here. :p Wait, did you phrase that like that on purpose? If so, hehe.
Pretty much, yup!
I don't think Kevin has given up on BlackBerry but I'm pretty sure some who write for this site have. Kevin might be the only one who actually uses a BB as their main device.

I haven't called anyone a name.
Seems to me, it's YOU that is disrespectful.
If you don't like my comments, put me on IGNORE. (howarmat always thanks posters who post rude comments to, or about me. being a nemesis of mine, that's his schtick)
Thank you.
I didn't call you something really bad- I just said I wished you would stop being a j-e-r-k (don't know why that is censored). And I said it not in a nasty way BTW. I read your posts because you used to be a helpful guy. In the past, before you became so bitter, you and I both had Storms and you helped me thru some problems- and I might add you were actually liking your device and encouraging me as well. I had a Storm 1 and 2 and I have to say the problems I had with either were minimal. There was nothing about either phone that would make me hold such a grudge against RIM. The new phones are great! I have the 9850 and LOVE it. It is fast and sexy. I don't care that you don't like it or aren't interested in it- but I do take offense to you saying things like Kevin should be ashamed to be a fanboy of Blackberry.
I am glad you are happy with your latest purchase and would appreciate you being happy that I am happy with mine. That is all!
You used to be a nice guy...........just sayin!;)
:) I'm not bitter--I just despise the Storm in particular, and BBOS in general. I did NOT say HE should be ashamed. Go back and reread, please! I stated that I (as in "ME") would be ashamed if I was a fanboi, as I don't like being a fanboi of any sort, despite my having a fondness at the moment for android phones. i'm not married to a phone or an OS, but I can say unequivocally that I'm getting a lot of use out my Bionic that wasn't possible with the Storm. If Kevin likes BB, so be it--I just PERSONALLY can't bring myself to say anything good about RIM at this point. I'm sorry my earlier comment about how I'd be ashamed was misconstrued. AAMOF, that's why I had also written "no disrespect" meaning that I wasn't claiming that he was one.
He's not the only one! I am quite faithful to the BlackBerry platform, regardless of RIM's mistakes and whatever else. I have a Nexus S as well, but it's just for testing apps and playing Angry Birds, to be honest. I could never see myself switching to Android or Apple or anything else as a main device. It just doesn't fit me.
If I was RIM I'd give up on Kevin for saying he's given them 2 strikes against them. Wondering what number 3 will be. Maybe 4 balls and they walk? Devcon to me was huge, but that's my opinion.
Well said. Same goes for me too. I don't care if they have the same OS for years at a stretch, which bores a lot of people. Actually for me, that's a plus point. Less things to adapt to.
I consider it at par with a marriage. You tend to look elsewhere, but it should end there ( just the looking part per se) and your are happily married for the rest of your life :D.
Wow, awesome ...
You guys (I mean except close people) aren't afraid to write down as a fact what is/thinks/does Kevin ? Guessed he answered ... somewhere on page 1 (post #11) and, moreover as a day-to-day basis on the editorial site ... you know, the front page of crackberry.
I have lurked quite a bit, and talked to Kevin several times. I also have sent things through my contacts and up the chain at RIM recently (with quite a bit of feedback from the company).l Kevin has not abandoned RIM, and in his usual fashion has supported them throughout. He does/says what he thinks is best and stands up for what he thinks, good or bad (for RIM). RIM needs him, either in his current position or another, as a bit of a reflection on them.
No way is Kevin gonna give up on BlackBerry. BB fans (not the blind ones) will be able to relate the same way - we all have a soft spot for BlackBerry phones. We know that RIM's not doing so well and we have quite a bit of criticisms for the company, but at the end of the day, we're waiting for RIM to rebound. "RIMpire strikes back" is really a reflection of our hope and desire to see it happening.
Kevin is a smart guy, and most importantly he's not a fanatical fanboy...
So yeah, im sure he can tell which way the wind is blowing and where RIM is going... The end of the road unless something drastic will happen.
Im sure he doesn't like it, but look on the bright side... Even if they'd go out of business tomorrow the existing owners would keep the site alive for a couple of years at least.
They've also been moving in a multi device direction for awhile, so I doubt Kevin and Crackberry is going anywhere for a good time to come... RIM or no RIM...
