You can have this tech, and just take a moment of sheer stupidity to share your location in FaceBook, or post a picture and people can grab you in less than 24 hours. This app, would it "wipe" all of that? I doubt that.

You still connect to the carriers, you still use their towers, many hundreds of millions of people still have contracts that are linked to their name etc. People still use public email services, etc. Securing the phone isnt going to help a whole heck of a lot against all of that.

(and if we really want to go all conspiracy nut, we could point out that cameras are everywhere, and many are not CCTV, you use credit cards, or bank cards, or ATMs etc etc etc etc etc).

That's the thing - true privacy would require your own mail server and not signing into any social networks and not using the gsm network, using voip etc instead.

It can be done but it isn't for the ordinary user.

That said, im interested in seeing what this phone is going to be like, in the real world.

Actually that's an excellent idea. This company has already done the groundwork for BlackBerry's first Android phone.

BlackBerry should never release an Android phone. There's plenty enough Android phones as it is to choose from.

With added security? Not really. That market is wide open right now.
