They don't need another ambassador, all they need is good advertising.

They've tried this more than once actually. Everyone remembers Alicia Keys and that terribly awkward, on stage kiss she shared with TH, but before her, they had the Black Eyed Peas. Remember, Will I AM used to show off BlackBerry devices. They even put the PlayBook in one of their videos.

It didn't work with those two celebs why would it work with a different one? Besides, I still think an increase in marketing would only lead up to an increase in returns once new purchasers find out what BB10's app situation is like.

Marketing and a better, separate PR campaign. Assuming ppl want to hear more about a devices they don't want or doesn't appeal to them- now......is like throwing money down a bottom-less pit. Assumptions didn't work two years ago for Thors. Lessons need to be learned from past mistakes if BlackBerry is going to move forward stay in the smartphone game with handsets and not just software.

They don't need advertising on it's own. They also need phones people actually want and can use. BB10 just ain't it.

They don't need to waste their money paying some already rich celebrity to endorse their products.

What is needed is to have a product that the consumer would want to buy and then go out and introduce it to the public in a way that get folks to start looking at the brand again.

I still think an Android based device with a Blackberry skin that offers better security then the competition in an environment where the public is becoming more security conscious, now you have something to market. Just my two cents worth.

Not something they have been very good at.... Still shake my head at the similarities between the PlayBook and Z10 launches.

BlackBerry should just pick their battles when it comes to marketing. Yes it is incredibly expensive, so maybe target 2-3 markets with help of carriers and measure traction. If it works, slowly expand it to next critical market. BlackBerry needs to it those handset sales to more than 1.1 million each quarter to be meaningful in anyway!

Very great! Cuz his fan base is so huge. Imagine this red beautiful Passport in the hands of drake. At least 40 to 45% of hus fans won't care if it blackberry or not they all will get.

Much of the BlackBerry 10 OS hidden potential remains unknown , primarily to BlackBerry themselves. Some beta releases of the near past carried so many killer features which BlackBerry never even acknowledged knowledge of. It was the investigative mind set of the Beta testers and even normal users that brought to light the stunning improvements and enhancements. It sounds ironical that BlackBerry do not yet seemingly realise the value of content of what they release.

The public might have already resigned. I'm getting a bit tired, too... :-(

Good phones... but if u can't have "snapchat" "instagram" etc etc all those apps people use on a daily basis.. they won't get anywhere and people will get bored and return the devices. So advertising will be a waist of money.

So basically blackberry is at the point where they can't advertise because they don't have developer support, they can't have developer support if they don't have market share, they can't have market share if no one (broadly speaking) buys the phones, and people will continue to not buy the phones if there isn't developer support.... Blackberry sees this and is moving away from hardware , the community NEEDS to accept that

Chen has done absolutely nothing to advertise the BlackBerry 10 OS and devices. Of course it costs to advertise. What person would take over a company with the reputation issues BlackBerry has and not understand that a major part of any turnaround must involve rebuilding the company's reputation, and rebuilding the company's reputation and brand must involve advertising? At this point, Chen has all but disdained loyal BlackBerry Consumers with his so-called, almost exclusive, enterprise focus. Accordingly, many once-loyal BlackBerry customers are demoralized, deflated and feeling as abandoned as a PlayBook. To make devices and expect people to buy them when people don't know the devices (or even the company that makes them) exists, is idiotic. With leadership that expects BlackBerry devices to magically fly off the shelves without marketing, the hardware ship is all but sunk. And by sunk I mean to employ a word that can be used in polite company.

But who do you advertise to and what do you advertise? They're not doing consumers anymore, and all they have are devices that lack an app ecosystem.
