I am just amazed how good Pinterest and Thumblr mobile websites are. I had android ports for both installed on my phone but after trying mobile experience I just deleted both (having said that wall 10 is good native app for thumblr). But mobile site is still better

I can see how the websites might be as good or better than the app. Who needs all those apps taking up memory on your phone anyway?

Social media apps are, specifically, the ones that benefit from native mobile features the most. Their attractiveness to the user is largely dependent on their ease of use. They benefit from features such as Touch ID login, GPS, notifications, integration with other social media apps etc. Not to mention the targeted ads that are ultimately needed to monetize operations. I don't see how any social network could possibly hope to launch, much less stay relevant without highly optimized native apps for Android and iOS.

If you don't want notifications or the ability to easily share content from other applications, then sure, the web versions can be just fine.

Otherwise, apps can offer functionality that the web versions cannot.
