    Hi guys,

Since upgrading to 4.5 i haven't been able to use BB Maps which had a great compass option. I've got Google maps and Nav4all installed but neither have a compass option... So does anyone know of any other apps out there for the 8310 that are just a compass or have a compass option?

    Thanks

    Burgaz.

The Nav4All program for my 8830 does have a compass feature. Used it today. It will either keep pointing directly to your destination (as you hike, bike, etc) or will also give you the direction you're going in degrees. Obviously, you need to move a little bit so that it can tell in what direction you're travelling.

I don't have an 8520, but according to RIM's published specs, BlackBerry - Curve 8530 Specs - View BlackBerry Curve 8530 Specifications, the 8520 does not have an internal GPS. If that is correct, then there is no compass app available to you.

BlackStar has a compass too, and is free. You can download it from BlackBerry App World.

Do not forget that GPS based compasses will not work properly unless you are moving.

And to the 8520 owner, you COULD purchase a bluetooth GPS to use with your 8520 if you want to use GPS apps.

I've been using BB maps for over a year and I have never seen any compass option.

And on a side note, I fired up google maps today and noticed a download message for version 4.4.

I like the Compass Pro in the CrackBerry store. Works fine, but you have to walk because it is based on GPS.

I am so excited about the new BlackBerry devices with a proper built-in digital compass.

Compass Pro does NOT work at all on my Bold 9650. I've tried everything under the sun to no avail. Even their support, although slow, could not help get it going. About two weeks ago, they said there was an update to version 1.1. That hasn't shown up either.

There is an excellent app called Compass that has been around for over a year and works flawlessly. With Compass Pro running, my BlackBerry is simply a paperweight.
