I'm sorry to read this. You should report the person who sold the phone to the authorities.

You do the responsible thing and report it to the police, giving them the information of the person who sold it to you.

As you can see... there is no magical fix for this.

If the seller is legit, then they should refund your purchase.... that is your best shot at a resolution that will make you happy, but it's a long shot.

If that doesn't work, yes report the device and the seller to the police. But it's doubtful that will "fix" anything for you.

Sorry if you are not able to get your money back, but in the future, only buy a phone from a store that will refund your money, or eBay, which can help you if you buy a stolen item. If you paid cash to someone, then you have no recourse if the phone is bad.

Any chance to check before handing over the dollars?
    Was it a face-to-face transaction?

Sounds like you were using Gumtree or Craigslist or something...

    Ok, it says icloud.

Take to apple store. They can probably locate the actual owner and contact him. He'll probably give you something just for getting it back or if you're lucky, clear it for you and say keep it if he bought another one.

What the stolen iPhone problem (did I read icloud here correct?) has to do with the BlackBerry forum?
