I think his statement is all we really need to read from this OP. Speaks volumes about his analytical depth and intellectual nimbleness.

Edit: no surprise the original comment has been removed.

I think some of the hardware only Android players like HTC, LG and Sony might have to exit the market. Their losses will get bigger as phone companies choke each other with lower margins.

BlackBerry service revenue is just starting to climb back.

One company can sell a phone for $99 and make a big $5 off of it. Bbry can sell a bes10 license for $99 and make $75 off it.

Exactly my sentiments! And remember, OS and Android are software cash earning cows. BB/QNX is not different.

The other issue is all the other hardware manufactures use Android. Not many unique selling points. A BlackBerry licensing deal with Sony would be very interesting.

Fact is, as fast as smartphone sales ramped up, they did have to level off, eventually. Especially as phones have gotten much better and more efficient.

    I agree!!

If you buy apps on a HTC, who gets the cut? Not HTC. These pure hardware companies don't have a chance without service revenue.

Sony is in a similar position as HTC but it does seem like a good partner. I'd Sooooo buy a Sony tablet if it had bb10 on it. The thing is blackberry should share some of the app revenue with them to sweeten the deal. Then maybe we can see some killer games on the bb10 platform or have bb10 bridge with the ps4, digital cameras, tv's...

Sony is in big trouble with over 3 years of losses in the billions. They need to partner as well and change direction.
