I've had my Curve 8520 for a year now and its starting to annoy me cause its slow as heck and battery life is ****.
I've always wanted a Bold phone. Esp. the Bold 9000 cause of the size. So my only option now is the Bold 9900 which is the same size with the 9000.
What's new with the 9900? Is it a good choice? And are there more apps for 9900 than on my 8520?

I use a Q10 now, but my previous phone was a Bold 9900 which I used for 3 years. Excellent phone. In fact, I think I like it even more than my Q10.

In my experience, moderate. Not great, not bad. I used it so much and so frequently that my battery would not last really long anyway, so I always brought a charger with me.

The 9900 is most definitely an upgrade over the 8520. The Bold is like a BBOS device shot up with 'roids. That said, nothing changes the fact that the 9900 is going on 3 years old this summer and is well past its prime, especially considering what else is available. The Q10 would be a better choice if you want a hardware keyboard, decent battery life, and apps.

Q10 is a little bit expensive. If i would go for that then ill just buy an iphone cause thats my first choice but im not going for iphone cause of the price. But I really love how the bold looks so thats what im going for.

He said it was cost . If cost was a consideration, I would prefer a Z10 over a 9900. The 9900 is only for those who need a PKB and a trackpad. Difficult to find a new 9900 as well.

As a 9900 owner, I can say that the browser is slow and laggy ( lots of playboard like checker boarding ) . Pretty useless with Google maps or many apps that we like today.

Yes it is a massive improvement. I'd get a q10 but the 9900 can be had pretty cheap now. Either way it's better than what you have.

Well only thing I like on the iphone is the apps. I hate the look. I prefer using keyboards and blackberries are much more aesthetic.

Really? Cause one of the reasons i want to switch my 8520 is that silly browser. Its sloooow as heck. Especially when you enable javascript.

    Have you considered the Q5?

Yes. I saw that they're pretty cheap compared to q10. But I dont know about the look of it. But i;ll consider it.

It's still an upgrade but please consider BlackBerry 10 units as well

I went from 9700 to 9900 and loved it. Just be warned that 99oo's auto focus isn't that great, compared to its older siblings, 9700-9780

It's a definite upgrade to the 8520. That said it really isn't the best modern experience. The BlackBerry 10 browser is much better as is the battery life of the Q series.

Further the BlackBerry 10 os has more if a future and potential support compared to the older os so app availability will eventually be better and updates are pretty steady.

Yes, the 9900 will be a huge upgrade from the 8520, HUGE!

The 8520 is a 2g only phone, 9900 is worth it for the 3G alone. If you could live with the 8520, you will love the 9900.

    Yes!

I started BlackBerry with an 8520 and upgraded to the 9900 two and half years ago. The 9900 is hands down the best BlackBerry ever made! The chassis is rock solid (dropped it many times without a case and it is still fine), the software works great (BBM version 6 works fastest), and the camera is WAY better than the 8520!

You will be overjoyed by the upgrade.

Heck, I even went back to the 9900 after three months of using a Z10.

There is almost no comparison between the two. The 8520 is nowhere near the 9900. The 9900 is the pinnacle of Legacy OS development. Many would state, to this day, that it's the best BlackBerry ever made! Don't think twice. Get rid of your Curve and pick up the Bold like freaking yesterday.
