IMs that you use on your computer do not need MAC authorization from your contacts whereas BBIM uses PIN authorization. Now I may want to replace my 8310 in near future.
Will all the contacts on my BBIM be informed about my device change status and asked to re validate or will it be a seamless transition? I wish that only my PIN change in their addressbook and/or BBIM AUTOMATICALLY without them requiring to do anything. Someone please throw some light on the topic.
Thanks

Reason: typing mistake
If you use the Switch Device Wizard it is a seamless transaction. I'm not sure if it updates your pin in their contacts, but they will not have to revalidate anything.

Thanks a lot, thats all I wanted
I have now another, not so critical, question in my mind. Should I wait for my operator to configure my new device before using the switch device wizard or I can first switch devices and then ask the operator to activate my new BB.
Doesn't matter. Just keep the SIM in the old unit. When you are
activated go to your BIS site and 1) enter or change your device
info, 2) Send your service books and and you should be good to go.
