Here's my method for stopping duplicate e-mails (ones that you sent) from appearing in your inbox.

    Code:
Here's an alternate method via BIS:

And here's another via GMail filtering:

The benefit of my method is that it can all be done from on your phone.

I also have mine set up so that I can still receive an e-mail from myself (sent from the same account) if I want to. This could also be done with the other two methods, but it would require a second filter similar to what I will outline below.

    Click on Setup:

    Click on Email Settings:

Click BB Button and Select Filters:

    Click on Add Filter:

*Note: The filters you can see in the screenshot below are the ones I added. They will not show up at this point.

    Enter this Info:

Filter Name: Receive E-Mail From Myself*
    Filter On: To Address
    Contains: enter your GMail address
Action: Check Forward messages to the device

    Click Save

*You can call this anything you want. You can skip this one if you don't care about being able to send messages to yourself.

    Click on Add Filter:

    Enter this Info:

Filter Name: No E-Mail Received When Sending E-Mail*
    Filter On: From Address
    Contains: enter your GMail address
Action: Check Do not forward messages to the device

    Click Save

*You can call this anything you want.

This is how it should look once you've added the filters. Click Save.

If you still want to be able to send yourself an e-mail, you must add them in this order. I don't know of any way to change the order once they are added. What these filters will do is:

    1. Check if the e-mail is to you.
    • If so, it will send the message along to your BlackBerry
    • If this occurs the second rule is completely ignored/skipped

If the e-mail is NOT to you, then it will go to the second rule:

    2. Check if the e-mail is from you.
    • If so, it will STOP the message, and you'll never see it

These two filters, working in this order, will allow you to send an e-mail to yourself, but will stop sent messages from ending up in your inbox as duplicates. And it can all be done from your phone!

To test it out, first try sending an e-mail to yourself. It should show up in your inbox like normal. Then try sending an e-mail to someone else. The copy of this message should NOT show up in your inbox!
