Looking to buy a new phone soon. It will be a Torch but it doesnt do 4g? Should I wait?
if you can wait 3-5 months, bb10 phones will be our
look in to the BlackBerry MILAN
It'll be a pretty long wait. 8-10 months, I think, before the Milan comes out. If you can do it I think you'll be rewarded.
The Torch 9810 and Bold 9900/9930 have pretty close to 4G. It says 4G on the screen and is super fast but like people have said before it's more loke 3.5G then true 4G. Still really fast and worth getting a new device now in my opinion.
I chose not to wait. I'm also in an area where we get the upgraded networks last. By the time the network is up, and the new phones are getting their bugs out, it will be upgrade time again for me :)
That said, the guy at the ATT store felt it would be about 3 months for an LTE phone.
Ya LTE is a bit away from being out 100% and same with phones... there are only a handful on the market right now that have LTE and barely anywhere are there towers/carriers that support it
Give it another 5-10 years before the Real 4G or LTE arrives. Carriers are just hyping it up and renaming networks to compete. Right now, it's just 3.5G/H+/3G, 2.5/2G and CDMA/EVDO networks. Just laying out the truth. ;)
Wouldn't 4G destroy the battery on blackberries? Maybe that's why RIM isn't heading that way yet. They need better battery life.
True 4G won't arrive for another 5-10, maybe 15 years, until then, it's really HSPA 3G+ or 3.5G/3.5G+ from reality's point of view. ;)
Why so long? Aren't there other phones that have 4G LTE already?
They're really 3G/3.5G in disguise. Carriers have there ways. Telus/bell/rogers claim it too, but it says 3G in their ad's photos, says 3G on the device's screens. H+ is 3G still.
LTE is capable of true 4G speeds. It isn't there yet but they can upgrade it to those speeds. Rogers and Bell have LTE and the HSDPA 3G+ which is the other 4G.
So when they say 4G its really 3.5? Lol. LIARS!
You must truly be deluding yourself.....the 'article' on the Milan, or whatever it ends up getting called, included what RIM admits is nothing more than an illustration, it's not even a mock up. So if you think they are going from OS7 with bugs, to BBX which they cannot call it legally, to OS10 in 4-5 months, I have a bridge to sell you. Let the poor person buy a Torch 9810, it's a great phone, not fast as an Android on Verizon, but does the job. By the time they are ready for the upgrade, we'll probably be seeing debugged OS10 products. And, oh yeah, the PB still doesn't have native email.....can you imagine, a tablet without email yet.....I think they have a lot of work to do up in Canada on existing messes before even thinking about OS10 phones.....in my humble opinion. ;)
