What is the majorly/properly & techie accepted way of speaking about a BlackBerry? i.e. Torch 9800 vs 9800 Torch? Just a little interested in the naming schema. I've always read news articles and forums that do both ways and I don't know which way is the BlackBerry enthusiast way to refer to such a heralding device.

Just for clarification: You just say 9800? If I didn't know you, and knowing there is a Bold and a Torch I would then have to ask you which one. In a regular conversation and, well, now, through a bulletin board.

I think it only matters for the sake of clarity. For example, I can talk about my Curve, but unless I specify it's an 8330m, it wouldn't be clear I'm speaking of an older model Sprint Curve.

Clarity is exactly what I'm after. Whenever I'm going to have a conversation in text or in person I am looking for the best way to say it so there is no question in the other persons mind as to it.

What would your exact schema be for your Curve?

Curve 8330m? Aside from just saying 8330m and instantly knowing that particular model.

Yes, I just say 9800. There is only "1" (one) "9800" model of BlackBerry. The 9830 and so on are not 9800's. If someone says they have the Monico (spelling ???) or whatever it is, I ask em what model # they have. That's just me though.

I would just say Curve if I'm talking generally. If it's imperative people know which model it is (because I'm looking for help), I would say 8330m; anyone who can help me will know what it is. If I want to be totally specific (and redundant), I say BlackBerry Curve 8330m. It's not a rule; I just like the looks of it. (And that's the way I see them identified on Research In Motion's web site.)

Well I can't say Bold because there are 4 models of the Bold, so I always just say 9780 and then if they ask, I'll say its the new Bold.
