...without GPS features, data plans or A-GPS or anything like that on your BlackBerry.

Obviously you won't be able to store all of north america because it's too huge but something like a several hundred mile radius region should be possible.

If you live in NYC for example can you download a couple of 100 megs worth of maps on your memory card and search them whenever you need to check out NYC directions.

Is there a stand alone non-OTA app that would let you pre-load maps for a specific region and then let you search streets on them to navigate them, etc.

I've spent a considerable amount of time on google, crackberry, and other tech forums trying to research this and some people mention it's possible but no details or links are provided.

Would you please be able to confirm from where exactly may such maps/apps be downloaded?

    Many Thanks!

    TrekBuddy + Googleak

Although without GPS it would be a huge PITA to do much, but you can scroll round maps etc.

    Hey thanks Delta

Can TrekBuddy/Googleak be searched for specific locations with zoom features also present there?

Ideally I'd love to get something with google maps functionality

Googleak copies google maps, the maps, terrain and sat images into map layers and you build an atlas from there which you can then use in TrekBuddy, you can't however "search" other than by lat/lon, the reason being you only have images of maps, not the map data used to make the maps
