so.... you can't remove the battery on the new models (i have a Classic)...

previously, i had a Curve for over 5 years; replaced the battery twice, having burned them from forgetting it was plugged in, stayed charging overnight, and the batteries eventually burned out.

as such, i've gotten PARANOID about leaving it plugged in any longer than it getting a full charge.

is it the same case with these batteries?

I believe on newer phones, it's impossible to damage your battery by leaving it plugged in.

I have been leaving phones plugged in overnight since the Nokia Nseries Symbian OS days, none got damaged due it. Phones have not been allowing overcharging for a long looong time.

Your phones probably got burnt out due to heavy usage and/or possibly due to BB using poor quality batteries.

The only time I removed a battery from my phone was to do a battery pull! So I'm glad it's not removable anymore

It wasn't possible to mess up a battery just by leaving it plugged in on that old Curve either. They've had circuit protection and trickle charging when it reaches full charge on these phones for years.

Batteries just wear out from constant use after a while.

Modern-day phones don't "overcharge" because their circuits would cut any exceeding juice from entering After the battery has been fully charged. Batteries do decay over time but I think built-in batteries are meant to last longer due to the way they're built.

One of my Z10 batteries stopped holding a full charge. No problem, I just put in a new one and I can still use the phone. If that happens to my Z30, not so good.

I am happy to know you can't overcharge the batteries. I kind of figured that with my iPad. While it is charging, the charger gets quite hot. Once it reaches 100% it cools down. I usually leave my phone plugged in overnight.

My Z10 has been plugged in for almost two years, doing hotspot work on an unlimited data plan. Battery still works, can use it to play games and stuff, but it is severely swollen....

I'll keep going, just wanna see what happens eventually... :-)

Severely swollen? Dangerous. Don't risk your life. Replace it.

Chemical elements leaked internally. Could catch fire if the stars aligned. Does it run without the battery? Never tested it... try it.

At least you CAN replace it. Z10 batteries are very cheap now. $11.58 for battery charger bundle Amazon. Maybe more down under!!

Cheers, yeah, Z10 is a keeper just for that one reason...

I don't wanna see my Passport battery in two years... I'm flogging this thing, screen is almost always on during the day, and I'm often recharging at 2pm or earlier due to heavy abuse... :-D

    It's 10:38am here and I'm at 43%... *eek*

    Yeah, like a laptop... :-)

    I might post results later.
