This surely has a simple solution as it is very annoying to have to type using the alt between each number, many thanks

It's also annoying to try and guess what device you have, so you might want to help us help you by elaborating on that.

Usually a long press on the alt key will do the trick.

Try pressing alt and then the shift key to lock the alternate keys, at least on a QWERTY device. This has worked all the way back to the earliest incarnations of BBOS, like the 957.

Long press the ALT key to enable sticky mode for numeric input. To disable press ALT again.

On bb10 there's no "sticky mode" with alt only the shift(caps lock). If you press the space bar it reverts to letters. You have to hold the atl while typing the #s.

I will assume that op is talking physical keyboard on bb10. I.e. Q5/Q10.

Hold alt down 'alt' until the alt indicator in the top right hand corner of the screen changes colour. Alt is now locked in for numbers. Press alt again to unlock.

You don't have to press the alt button. BB10 suggest you the numbers after press buttons. See picture
