Whenever i tried doing it, it instead would call.

i tried #646# or #225# on the main screen where the icons are
and it would call instead.....

I have no idea about those T-Mobile functions (as I'm a Canadian), but I use an app called "Phonalyzer" that tracks all my minutes and generates nice graphs.

I don't know about T-Mobile, but on AT&T if I dial *646# I get a text message that shows my remaining minutes.
thats odd even with a unlocked phone?
