To turn on Caps Lock hold down the Alt key and press the Left Shift Key. You can also turn on the Num Lock with the Alt + Right Shift key. To turn either off press the shift key again.

On the older model Curve, you hold down the ALT key and the RIGHT SHIFT key, and it goes into caps lock. You should get an indication in the right corner of the screen. Then, you're good to go!

As per the 8900's user manual:

• To turn on NUM lock, press the Alt key and the Left Shift key. To turn off NUM lock, press the Shift key.
• To turn on CAP lock, press the Alt key and the Right Shift key. To turn off CAP lock, press the Shift key.

You can also just hold the letter for a split second longer and it will capitalize automatically. Helpful for shorter words, instead of pressing alt-shift to lock the caps.
