personalize a blackberry? sorry if its a stupid question but I'm learning the basics

Change the housing, put a cover/skin on it, dye the trackball, put a theme on it, send it in to Colorware/Becky Mae.

I never 'got' the "personalize" aspect of it.

beyond changing the homescreen wallpaper and customizing ringtones so you can tell if it is your phone ringing or the one at the next table the only reason i see for customizing it is if you habitually set your phone down in a pile of phones that all look similar.

I dont personalize my TV or my Toaster why would I personalize my phone?

You change the brightness, contrast, color, etc. on your TV to suit your tastes and you change the amount of toasting time on your toaster so that it makes your toast the way you like it, I would say that's personalizing.
