Almost everyone that uses my Z10 immediately press the BlackBerry logo thinking it will either turn on the device or take them to the home screen. It's hilarious every time I see them just try to understand the concept of not having a home button to press. As for me, I can't use the home button on any other device. The moment I use my iPod I tend to swipe up to exit an app or unlock the device. Dam home buttons! Companies should just get rid of them and go full gesture like BlackBerry

What's even more funny is when people use an older BBRY like a 9000 (see my thread) or a 9700 and keep tapping the screen thinking it's a touch screen. My GF did this last night repetitively haha.

Dude, I feel the same way. It just seems old school to have a home button now. With more gestures being added to IOS I think they want to go the route of OS10 but don't want to seem like copycats.

Apple's not trying to get rid of their homebutton so they beefed it up with a fingerprint scanner.

Exact same. Friends and family get thrown for a loop when using my phone. And I can't for the life of me figure out how to operate an iPhone

I think Apple will get rid of the home button. They will replace it with the print reader and go the gesture route ala BlackBerry. Pretty sure that's why they have started tomorrow introduce gestures in iOS 7.

while i like the swipe feature it would be nice if there is a way i can go straight to the page i would consider "home" with one swipe instead of several swipes. is there a way to do that?

I'd love the ability to change the swipe up to go back to the first page and not the open apps.

So different in fact, that many of the phones stay in the stores because damn near every other phone in the world has some single button to go home.

There are small buttons on the bottom of the screen representing each page of apps. Press the one you want, or swipe to it.

The inevitable future is less and less moving parts. Whether it is the swipe up gesture or something else that takes over, the home button will one day disappear I believe.

Most people that try my Q10 usually look it up and down and even flip it over to see how to wake it up.

When I reach over and swipe up they usually seem thrown off by it.

Yes. If you are on, say, the fifth page of apps, simply swipe up from the bottom and it will take you to the first page

Arduous task using any other phone these days. Swipe gesture absolutely shatts on a home button.

Imagine the raucous it would cause had this phenomenon been introduced on an iPhone instead of a bb10 device? Just imagine. This world sure ain't level.

The evidence suggests that consumers are happy with the home button though. Just look at the market share of the mobile operating systems with home buttons and then try to name a gesture based OS that hasn't been a complete commercial failure. Betcha can't do it.

WebOS, Meego, BlackBerry Tablet OS, and BlackBerry 10 all have two things in common. They each depended on gestures and they each were commercial failures.

Seems like it might not be time for companies to go full on gestures just yet.
