Just found out that my 64GB SD card was causing high system CPU. Removed it, did security wipe and all is well.

I changed the phones from BlackBerry Z30 to Leap and same issue occurred as I moved the SD card to leap as well.

64GB card worked well for a year but something happened after software upgrade, not sure.

Just curious. What is high system CPU for you, when I put mine to 48 hours my system is 33%

The high system CPU is because the device is indexing everything.

Give it some time for it to settle.

You have a defective memory card. Get it replaced.

Am just a couple of months short of a year with my 64GB card and it's been encrypted and about 60% full most of the time with no issues.
Have heard many posts with issues on these forums, so I always keep a backup of the card on my PC lol.
So far so good. I wonder if your OS version might have something to do with it or if it's an issue with the card itself.

I have a 64 GB card on my Z30 and don't have this issue.

It could be indexing your card (as mentuoned). This is processor intensive but will eventually settle down once the initial indexing is complete.

Also, I have a high quality name-brand SD card. What brand is yours?

Finally: Do you copy a lot of files onto your card from your PC? (e.g.: plug your phone into your PC via USB and copy files onto your SD via Windows Explorer or Mac's file manager)? The phone has to re-index every time you do this (e.g.: scan/index the new files, generate thumbnails for pictures and videos, etc.. etc...)

I had thumbnails not showing up, on my SanDisk 64GB. Backed up, reformatted, was good for a while, then it happened again. Did this three times. Rang up and had it replaced.

Bought a Kingston as a second one / backup.

Considering a Samsung EVO, because they seem cheap.
    Any good? Anyone any idea?

I've been using a Sony one and haven't had any issues. I move a lot of large files to and from the laptop over WiFi network and card is always encrypted.
