    Hi the GPS Services can only be used with BB maps? or it have their own maps engine?

    I need a data plan to use it? or its free if the BB model have the GPS feature?

    On unlocked Rogers on T-Mobile US, Google Maps uses GPS. "Your location within 3 meters"

    There is a whole bunch of GPS aware applications that uses BlackBerry's GPS chip. Including aMazeGPS, telenav and other GPS navigation apps. Also beyond411 and some whether apps use your GPS location to determine your city, etc.

    I think his/her concern was carriers locking GPS, kinda like Verizon liked to do. Silly CDMA carriers. The 8900 came with telenev preloaded

    You will need a data plan for any app that needs to download maps or other positional data. This will be the same for any phone thugh.
