    I am new to tethering and am only getting speeds around 115kbps. I am using an alltel 8330. Anyway to speed up connection?

    Well, as the phone is only capable of 2G speeds, your getting the max the device can deliver. There's nothing you can do to increase it other than replacing with a 3G capable phone.
    It's a 3G phone, look it up!

    I stand corrected. Thanks for the enlightenment. The only think I can think of then is that your connected to the 3G network while tethering. Does the phone show the 3G indicator?

    It never says 3G. It says 1XEV 2-3 bars

    go into the properties of the dial up connection you created for use with the blackberry and check around the options. you can set a max of 921600 bps. this of course will still not be your confirmed actual speed. the actual speed will be determined by network conditions, reception, and such.......
