I would suggest the Bold 9700. You will have a trackpad, not a trackball. It also has twice the amount of app memory of the Bold 9000.

The trackball uses moving parts where the trackpad is solid state. It is no contest in terms of reliability and the preferred choice going forward.

The Bold has a higher resolution display screen, 480x320 compared to the Curves 320x260 screen. The Bold also supports 3G networks.

If youre on TMO or AT&T as Laura said, go with the 9700. Its the best offering by RIM at the moment.

I don't blame you for wanting to go a BlackBerry device. I don't know about the experience of others, but I have never had an issue with the trackball. I think that the trackball is really solid. The white trackball on the 9000 does get dirty, so the black trackball of the 8900 Curve. I like the 9700. If you are with AT&T there isn't a better BlackBerry than the 9700.
