I downloaded a video I wasn't supposed to and was viewing it. I forgot to uncheck the box in BBM options so the title of that video updated as my status so everyone could see what I was watching, WHICH I DID NOT WANT. I deleted all my contacts and BBM itself because I know you can't delete your status updates. Can they still see that particular status or am I entirely removed automatically from their BBM? Please reply asap anyone please I'm gonna cry!

I know this might sound crazy but I personally do not use BBM because with work and everything else I just don't have time and my BB is used mainly for business.

I believe that although you uninstall or delete your contacts unless you ask to be removed on the end of the contact they would still have you listed by PIN. Once again I am not 100% and only taking my best shot. i am suree someone else will come along that knows BBM better than I.

Can't you just keep updating your status every 2minutes with music or whatever so you'll have a gadgillion updates that people will just get too tired to look up all your updates? At this point, everyone would have seen your status already anyways. :/

I would do what evil. bunny said. post so many updates that no one will want to even bother looking at all of them, and consequently the one you don't want them to see

Your status update will remain on your contacts screen until they clear the updates themselves. Even if you remove them from your list.

Unless it is a video of children, i will not continue with this description, then let your contacts know that you are human and as such were curious. No doubt it is the truth. Curious that is. I've watched questionable videos. Made for an interesting Monday. Sometimes the shock factor is so worth it.

Nono I'm over 18 and it was a legal video, so to speak. I have my contacts backed up. What if I reinstall BBM, restore them and then post a gajillion updates. Then will my old updates disappear? And it's the middle of the night here, and I have few contacts, so there's a good chance no one saw anything, if only I can erase it from their recent updates. Reply asap please.

I usually look at say the last 5 updates if I even have the time. I'm not sure how BBM back-ups work though.

Listen to some songs, watch another 2-5 videos (so it's not suspicious that you only had THAT one naughty vid), update with comments.

edit: I saw a setting on BBM setting about showing recent updates from none to 100. Not sure how this one works, so I guess if someone selected 100, they'd show the last 100 updates from a contact? But seriously, who would look through a 100 updates...

You know there's an option in the bbm menu to show numbber of recent updates, none, 25, 50 or 100. Most people have this set at 25 I guess. So if I play more than 25 songs then will that stop my older updates from showing? Or is it 25 updatesof 25 individual contacts? Come on help. For future reference, open bbm/scroll up to your profile picture, click on it, uncheck the "show what I'm listening to" box.

If you restore bbm from a back up it will not restore messages unless you tick that option too.

joking aside, just set your blackberry to shuffle and repeat all songs in your blackberry.... come back after 5 hours... 1 song = roughly 3 mins... so 5 hours = 300 mins = 100 songs... you should be covered then to "hide" the evidence

When you remove someone from BBM, you disappear from their buddy list. They won't see anything from you anymore.

Hopefully, restoring a backup will get your contacts back. You might have to resend invitations, but they should return to your list.

Best option is to turn off the updates to what you are listening/ watching. If you forget, then open your music player and forward through a bunch of songs.

Personally, I rarely even look at someone's update history. It fills up the screen too quickly, so I would have to really want to know what someone was up to before I would stalk the history list (or be completely bored). Seeing the most recent update is enough for me.

that is not entirely true, depending on if a Chat was open, and how long you've been chatting

I have deleted, and been deleted by people and had the notification in chat come up "this person no longer has you as a contact (delete)(invite)"

Sooo if these are long time BBM people with a chat open they will see the last status update when they look,

Well I'm over 18, and there were no children in said video. I had backed up my contacts, reinstalled BBM and restored them. Some got added back but for some I had to send a fresh invite. I think the ones who had added me originally were added automatically but the ones I'd originally added I had to invite again.

Jaguarr40, you might think it's an unnecessary post, and maybe you're a little correct. All the same I made a mistake and needed help. People here were nice enough to help me, thanks for that guys.

I think I managed to stop anyone from seeing that update, after spending a sleepless night googling solutions, posting here and delete and undeleting things. Definitely not checking that music box in the BBM options anymore. Might sound like a trivial issue but was a big deal to me, I was in tears. So really, thanks again for the help everybody. Reading your replies has pretty much got rid of my fears.

And a helpful member here helped me out by giving me their PIN. Tested and can say for sure now that if you delete your contacts and re-invite them, then they will no longer be able to see you previous status updates.

Just for future reference if anyone has the same question, whatever be their reason for asking it.
