    however geeky this may sound, but would anyone know how or if you are able to play runescape on a blackberry browser? it has java doesnt it, but is it like the right type? there could be differences in the mobile java and computer versions, thanks.

    Not possible. While BlackBerry is based on Java technology, it was not designed for the ability to run Java applets. Also, Java SE (Standard Edition), which is available for desktop computers, is very different to Java ME (Micro Edition), on which the BlackBerry platform was built.

    Control input and navigation would be difficult anyway on a BlackBerry and the small screen can affect gameplay severely. Runescape needs to show a lot of information at the same time on the screen, 480x360 pixels aren't going to be enough for that. Besides that a game with a live Internet connection is not optimal for a BlackBerry as this means constant data in/out. Ping would be horrible and unless you're on 3G or connected to WiFi, network speed must be slow. Last, but not least the only BlackBerry capable of OpenGL graphics right now is the Storm2.

    As you can see, even if the Java versions were the same and BlackBerry smartphones could run Java applets, the hardware simply wasn't designed for games like Runescape.
