As the title says, I just wanna tell you about Blackberry's heavy product placement in a new TV series called "Designated Survivor" on Netflix. All of the top characters there are using BlackBerry Classic (there are many Q10s in episode 1, but then changed to the Classic since episode 3), and another main character uses Blackberry Leap. There are other types of smartphones like android and iphone, sure, but the numbers and screen time are severely limited. I haven't seen any Passport just as yet, but who knows, there might be on further episode(s). But I rather doubt it, though. The Classic looks VERY nice in their hands and doesn't look as ridiculous when being put by the ear for phone calls.

BlackBerry Classic is king in this show. Even the United States President character (played by Kiefer Shuterland) uses it. Proudly. Unabashedly.

And I love it.

I am actually surprised the show is already available on Netflix, thought they run at least a season behind. Show debut date was Sept 21st, 2016.

ABC has been doing deals outside of their normal broadcast markets for some of their shows.... if they don't the torrents will.

I watch Netflix when I am at my GF's and they are still a season behind on hit shows like Blacklist and Quantico.

You want branding... you pay for it. Nothing get shown on the screen by accident anymore. And I doubt when Sutherland production company approached BlackBerry... they got a return call. So poof these are props with no branding - but everyone knows if its the goverment, its BlackBerry.

If a third party took up manufacturing the handsets and the BB logo was removed (hence also the negative brand perception), I wonder if it would sell better?

Besides the extremely rare BB10 product placement, the story is pretty good, so it's easily becomes one of my favorite TV shows, waiting for it every week.
