I have a Q10, which I love with all of my heart, because of my physical keyboard and blackberry feel, but I saw that the Z10 was on sell and was thinking about changing phones, I do love watching you tube a lot, but I also email and Txt A Lot. I wanted to know would the Z10 be a good transition for a Q10 user.

It will only be a good transition if you want a physical keyboard and a longer lasting battery.

I think you got the OP backwards.

Don't do it man. Especially if you text, bbm and email a lot.

Z10 is an awesome phone but nothing beats a physical kb for typing

    Yes. I did.

It will only be a good transition if you don't want a physical keyboard and a battery that doesn't last as long...

Absolutely love my Z10, great screen I get good battery life (full day of use ~16-20 hours of moderate use on one battery - much less with heavy use but I have a spare battery I can swap out around 6 hours if needed). BUT - I have not used a Q10. I'm due for an upgrade to my work line in April, pushing for a Q10 (or next gen QWERTY from BB) come upgrade time) but I won't be trading in my Z10 any time soon.

Lol I'm the exact opposite, except I'm not sure I could drop the Z10 completely, I could only get the Q10 as a second device which is what i recommend for you..

Get the Z10 as a secondary, then if it works out make it the main driver..

Edit : in terms of transition, just think about how much you use shortcuts, your typing preference.. but best way is as above, just use Z as a secondary device

Get the z30. I just upgraded from my z10 last night. Definitely nice having a phone with a longer lasting battery.

Not to mention the keyboard layout is much better since the screen is bigger, less typos hehe.

I bought and tried out two Q10s and could not let my Z go. Love the LC D screen, size and keyboard.

I don't know ... I thought I could never live without my physical keyboard. But typing on the Z10 really is a dream once you get used to flicking and give it a chance to learn your style and vocabulary. The problem is, if you do try it, you have to give it at least a week for it to 'adapt' to you to really appreciate how good it is.

IMHO as someone who transitioned from the Z10 to the Q10, I say be happy with what you've got.

Typing on glass is not all that. Although, yes the autocorrect and keyboard gestures on the Z10 are much better than any touchscreen phone, it will never compare to the Q10. Typing on it just feels natural!

Although I do kind of miss the bigger screen and the 16:9 aspect ratio, I hated the orientation sensor when I'm using it in bed so I always had it locked! So then the 1:1 ratio works out for me in the end. Haha I still have my Z10 laying around at home. Haha

Oh yeah one more thing about the Z10: the battery life was really unstable, until Like I needed to carry two battery packs to last all day! This Q10's battery, on the other hand, is amazing!!!

The q10 may be smaller but the speakers are better and the battery will last twice as long on YouTube. Video recording is easier on the q10 because you don't have to wonder if it is straight when you hold it sideways to get full screen like on the Z10. It's just natural. For long reading or watching an entire movie then yeah the Z10

Yep and it's just as great with the latest OS!! Lmao!! I Love it!

Wifi-Calling pffff.. that's a small sacrifice for all the great gains of the updated OS

I would like to get a playbook or tablet just for a larger screen.. but this phone gets stuff done, period. : )

I was also very happy with my Q10 when the Zed went on sale at a price that was too good to ignore. Typing is definitely less satisfying on the Zed (there's just no substitute for a physical keyboard although the swipe feature is pretty cool) but was surprised to discover that many of the apps that I am accustomed to using are more functional on the larger display. It seems that many apps are optimized for the Zed. Of course video content is far more satisfying on the Zed as well.

I have not used my Q10 in the seven weeks that I have had my Z10 set up so I guess that I have been happy enough with the latter despite missing at times the keyboard and form factor of the former. If you anticipate running much YouTube or other streaming content and do not have daytime access to charging then external charger or spare battery is highly recommended.
