Has RIM finally got its groove back? – Features - Know Your Mobile
It's too bad no one's interested in actual positive news in the News and Rumours forum. :P
I'm glad to read some cautiously positive articles on RIM. As for myself, I'm cautiously optimistic about RIM's future. The biggest issue for them will be execution. If they execute well then they are back, if they execute poorly then it will be a slow slide to irrelevance. QNX is awesome, I only wish I could buy a phone with it now.
I think the Bold Touch looks like an awesome phone but I definitely do not think they got their groove back. I think that's a fair statement to say.
I think they are in the start up stages of getting their groove back and their consumer trust back as well. But they better move fast and make strides.
Torch has had far better marketing than the PB (which has practically zero) and any of the other BB phones to date (probably combined)...
I don't get why they don't use the same type of strategy, unless it was all AT&T's doing and not RIM....
RIM has no clue how to advertise,
AT&T certainly did the Torch Ads or had input into them.
I would love to simply see a commercial with a Playbook! handed from person to person each using a different native task, and no one closing them as the next person takes it and finally the last person just closes them all
show me the device! show me lots of people using it, lots of ways, END!
Ice been seeing some cool rim advertising lately. Not as much as apple but then no one can advertise like them.
Rim has put a stake in the ground and is poised for the future.

i have actually like the commercials for the PB i have seen so far. good music and show the device in a good manner
I barely have noticed them, the Business meets fun ads I noticed!
the Playbook ads I have yet to really see because funny enough, I don't look up from my playbook or Blackberry long enough to take notice since they don't grab me
Last night there we saw five 30 second ads for the Playbook in the space of three hours over two different stations.
This is the most I have seen since introduction.
Rimm is stepping up the advertising in California for the Playbook!
I see a ton of PB ads (canada).
Again, all they have to do is mimic the Torch advertising campaign...
The work + play angle is great, and the PB does it better than the Torch does (just need some application updates, which won't be that far out)... Humor is good too.
There's barely anything at all in the US right now. Even if they exist, they are not prevalent. I knew plenty of people who never even considered getting a BB (and weren't even planning on get one) that saw the Torch commercials.
Some people who do keep up on tech info are surprised to find out the PB already released.
The lack of advertising may have to do with it not being finished yet. They may heat up the ad campaign as the get native pim on it. Plus the target market is business. They don't buy from commercials.

I'm not seeing many playbook ads over here in england, but like The_Engine said. target audience etc
The Bold Touch will likely sell well to the core of the BB constituency. It probably won't do much to attract those on other smartphone platforms. I do love the Bold 9000 form factor. RIM should never have abandoned it. I find smaller keyboard on the Tour and the newer Bolds too confining.

You won't see any yet since they haven't announced a launch date for anywhere in europe yet.
Those two are actually pretty good especially since their music complements the theme of the adverts.
They were using the netbook method of selling with the 9700, hw hadn't drastically changed so alter the form factor. :D
