Mobile computing- glasses that connect to your phone, that connect to your car, that connect to your business, that connect to your nuclear power plant, and don't forget your space shuttle!

"Bridged" eye glasses and sun glasses with a "Heads Up" type of display maybe?
I wear specs every waking moment so this would be sort of cool and even useful.

This is not ever remotely a "version of Google glass", it's not even in the same category.

Google glass is a mobile computing device running Android. This thing in the patent application isn't a proper computer, it's just an accessory.

It's primary use case is hiding the phone's information from prying eyes, sort of like a high tech privacy filter that you put on your computer monitor. This can also be accomplished by holding the phone in such a way that other people cannot see it.

On the other hand, Google Glass can operate without a phone. And because the information is projected straight to your eyes, the whole risk of prying eyes is moot.

Don't think anyone else actually read/comprehended the patent. In short, in functionality, this is more like children's secret decoder glasses from the 70's, wherein one would put on a tinted plastic pair of glasses to read "secret" messages in appropriately colored passages!

In a way, this is actually less functional than the kids glasses (in the scenario described in the patent), as it sounds like anyone can still see the display as long as you are looking at it. Of course, for phones, the screen (depending on settings) goes blank fairly quickly anyways, but this certainly would avoid the hassle of keeping it activated while reading. It is actually more analogous to Samsung's eye tracking atempts - which are actually mentioned specifically.

Besides both being shown as "glasses", this is completely different than what Google has been touting.
