Hi guys, since the playbook hardware is no longer supported from BlackBerry. I wonder if any guru out there can help and create a new ROM or custom where it can be use like bb10.

I just wish my playbook is capable of installing android app like my z10.
I'm not talking about side loading if you all know what I'm talking about.

You want to unlock the bootloader to install a custom OS that allows direct APK installs and Android 4.2 support.

    Do I read you right?

    Not likely to happen.

Regardless of what many have claimed over the years.... I think most of us would like to see the PlayBook unlocked and the ability to put a functioning OS with a future and an ecosystem on our devices.

But we didn't buy Android devices, and BlackBerry is very good at securing the ROM on their devices and they have no reason to unlock it and every reason to keep it locked. Because many owners (at least originally) are corporate and even governments who would not appreciate BlackBerry making devices unsecured.

You may just want to make a custom shortcut that enters your reply for any thread like this. BlackBerry has built its reputation on security, and with the bulk of its efforts going back towards its enterprise roots, why would it take any steps to willingly reduce the security of one of its products that are used in a lot of regulated industries?
