Ok, this is what I have found out so far. I am really at a point where I need some help from someone who understands java programming and the blackberry operating system.

Several of the files, once downloaded to the phone and saved via javaloader are different between the VZW and Sprint versions:

    net_rim_cldc
almost/all the impl files are different

uploading the Sprint ones does not seem to change anything on the VZW phone.

Viewing the file system on the phone with QPST/Bitpim:

There are two files in the root folder GPS_SS_DB and GPS_SL_DB. Both of these files are different between the VZW and Sprint versions. Another file, UimEfsAPDULog is different between the VZW and Sprint versions. If you replace the VZW file with the Sprint one the phone reverts to the old file after a reboot. The VZW also has a file, gpsone_lcsagent_state.cfg, that the Sprint phone does not have. I deleted it but that did not seem to do anything.

I cannot access the NVM via Bitpim or QPST.

We need to work together so please help me out.

How did you go about opening the Blackberry in Bitpim?

I had to uninstall bb desktop and install the sprint mobile broadband program. It would not work with bb desktop installed, prob has something to do with the drivers that it installs and bitpim cannot interface with them.

Just check your setting in bitpim. My exact steps were:

    1. uninstall bb desktop manager
    2. uninstall sprint mobile broadband
    3. reinstall sprint mobile broadband
    4. install bitpim
    5. config bitpim to look for the proper usb port and set it to CDMA other

    I also have QPST installed

    Hi

I want to know how do I connect 8830 to QPST so that I could point GPS server address to point to our server address so that I could have free VZ navigator. I hate verizon for not opening up GPS for 3rd party apps.

    8830 has GPS capability

    thanks

What PDE server address are you talking about? If I tell you, will you share that IP with me? BTW, chaning the PDE IP to something else will not cause VZNav to use that IP. VZNav does it's own pointing to a specific PDE internally in the program.

    Yep!

That's the issue apparently with the locked GPS. Nobody knows what the PDE is for VZW.

In the service book information, I did find a specific IP address and port # referenced several times. I am not sure if this is referencing a VZW server or RIM.

    IP: 206.51.26.162:17771;17770

Test this and see what you can get!

This IP looks to be a WAP IP Gateway:
