I seem to recall that when I first got my 8310 Curve when it was switched off the green network indicator did not flash, now I noticed even when switched off it flashes. Is this normal?

No that is not normal. If you have it set to "off" then it shouldn't flash.

I have mine set to "off" and the only time I get the green light flash is when my battery is running very low.

I have BB Alerts installed, wonder if that is causing it to do it even when off.

I know people have had lots of problems with BB Alerts. Well maybe this might be an alternative. Credit user JSanta11 for this thread and hopefully good alternative.
