So I downloaded google maps and it doesnt give me the exact location. It gives me the location area (blue dot surrounded by the large blue shaded circle).
Also I have a program that updates (or is supposed to) my position online however they aren't receiving any data from it.
where are you downloading these from??? how do you download applications? sorry, i am clearly way behind and just can't figure it out. The Application Center is there for me, but all that is on there is Facebook, Flicker, etc.
So we have a confirmed no on the 3rd party access to GPS (besides BBmaps, I mean)?
Say it aint so, tell me the truth, but.....say it aint so
IT's SO!!
VZW wants your money so they crippled the BB GPS just like they did on the 8830 World Edition. You have to pony up $9.99 every month for VZ Navigator and it doesn't work near as well as a REAL navigation system that uses true GPS satalites versus cell tower triangulation.
Here in Detroit, I had VZNav and it lost it's signal at the intersection of two major freeways (696 and 75 for you locals) and never regained it's location all the way out to Auburn Hills (about a 10 minute drive.)
Use a TomTom or Magellen if you want an accurate GPS navigation device.
On my Curve I have never been able to get Google Maps to work with the GPS cold. What you have to do is fire up Blackberry Maps until it acquires a GPS signal and then load up Google Maps and it should pull it in.

Isn't BBmaps made by google maps and should give you the same info? When you go to About in BBmaps it says it's made by google... why download google maps?
