    I bought the curve last night.

    Immediately upgraded the OS to the latest one from Alltel (4.5.0.89). All went well with the update. All versions report to be what they should be.

    Under GPS options told the phone to turn on GPS for all locations.

    BB Maps tries to use the GPS... Nothing. Left it by a window for 10 minutes, while BB maps says "searching for satellites".

    The VZ firmware and OS didn't include BB maps, while the new version does.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks!

    Verizon blocks GPS. It should work with the VZW Navigator app or BB Maps. My co-worker has the same phone as you and it works on and off with BB Maps. Try the VZ Navigator, if you dont have it install it and give it a try.

    BB maps worked fine for me with 4.5.0.77, .89, .97, and now with 4.5.0.119.

    Are you using the Where I Am, or Start Navigating command?

    Check out this post;

    Verizon basically locks GPS on their network from being used on 3rd party apps, they limit it to BB Maps and VZ Navigator.

    Either. It doesn't seem to matter.

    Not paying $10 a month for something that's not that good to start with.

    I am aware that it "should" work with BB maps. I'm just wondering if the new OS install messed it up somehow.

    BB maps would be fine if I could just get something to work...

    I had an identical problem with my new Curve a couple of days after I started using it. I pulled the battery while the unit was still powered on, waited about five minutes, popped the battery back in and on power up and re-connect to the network GPS worked just fine, no problems with it since. If you haven't tried this it's worth a shot.
