Starting April 6, 2019, a global GPS time reset issue, dubbed GPS Week Rollover , may impact location accuracy

Some are dubbing this the "mini Y2K for mobile devices". (It's not)

There is a GPS issue which affects older devices made before 2013 or so. It’s not just mobile phones – My older TomTom was affected, too.

PS: This is not a TELUS issue - it's global. I just happen to work there so I’m using their links as they’re pretty good:

    Excerpt:

Some devices, however, will not receive software patches due to their age. If your device is listed below, please be aware of this issue and exercise caution if you find yourself in a 911 situation. Alternatively, you can visit your nearest TELUS store to purchase a new device.

I was mildly concerned about this too. Our world is far more dependent on GPS now since the last reset 19.7 years ago.

You can still buy a Torch from Telus?! (Edit: read that wrong)

Not at all concerned. In any event when you dial 9-1-1, always give your location when on the phone. NEVER assume they already know where you are.

Is this a permanent impact? For y2k, most impacted system could be manually adjusted to overcome the issue.

Y2k was a hoax in general. Older devices simply just indicated 00, and anyone nowadays wouldn't be bothered to check. It simply means 2019. Or '19 now.
