I noticed that on my Curve 3G, Google Maps does not give a location until GPS (from satellites lock), but using BB Maps, it will give an approximate location using cell tower triangulation before locking in on satellites. Does anyone know how to get Google Maps to also use cell tower triangulation?

I tested my wife's Bold 9700 on Telus, and it does give the rough location on Google Maps as expected.

Mine gives me an approx location accurate to 1900m when I first load it and I haven't set anything special up. What version of Google Maps are you using? I'm on 4.4.0

Same version as you -- 4.4.0
I get "Your location is temporarily unavailable." when I start up. And it'll stay that way unless I'm outside in view of satellites...
I wonder if it's carrier related...
