This looks so good. It looks like Blackberry will reborn... Is going blackberry to use their own software on this new phone?? If a government use Blackberry... It won't be android.

No phone involved... it's their enterprise software solutions.

Spark is their unified endpoint management.
Secusuite does secure communications on smartphones.... iOS or Android.
AtHoc is a emergency communications solution.

BlackBerry doesn't do phones anymore... got to get use to that.

There doesn't seem to be anything to indicate that OnwardMobility still plans to release a phone.

There has been a leak of some sort brought forward through AT&T, you decide how legitimate you think it is. It's in this thread,

Says Android or iOS..... but requires Android 8+, beyond that it should work on any Android, maybe even Uhihertz. But I doubt anyone interested in that level of security is going to start with that kind of product.

Back in the "day" when BlackBerry first bought them, it was around $200 per user, per year - each user needed a license. What it is today, and what other BlackBerry solutions might be required.....

Canada's population is less than 10% of the USA's. This is like California announcing a state contract. No big deal.

    12%, but who's counting?

But this is still a pretty big contract for anyone to get. I'm sure if VMware grabbed the entire state of California, they'd be pretty happy too.

I have no idea how many will be served, but the federal public service in Canada employs over 300,000 people.

A win is a "win" in business. This is nothing but good news for BlackBerry. They seem to be getting some good wins here and there and have survived in a very competitive market.

But they are always getting some good wins... that never show up on the bottom line.

Is this really a win.... or just a modification of an existing customer to a revised product?

Is it good... yes. Is it going to bring in more revenue... who knows? But with Chen having to have known about this announcement and yet he felt he needed to warn in his earnings call about EPS going red without IP revenues.... don't think it's going to move the needle much anytime soon.

In the end, it would be foolish for the government of Canadian to put all there eggs in one broken basket. Even if it qualifies as Canadian made - technically GOOD, CYLANCE and AtHoc aren't., and over 50% of their staff is no longer in Canada. But still it's 2,000 taxpayers they are keeping at work.
