    Hi CrackBerry,

Seems I can trade-in my current handset and pay a small fee to upgrade to a 9860, 9810 or a 9790.

I am considering the 9860 for a big change seeing as I want a launch BB10 phone, but I fear I may miss the keyboard.

I know the 9810 has a bigger screen and a keyboard but it is sunk in compared to the Bold.

The 9790 is what i have now with bells and whistles on, but I wonder if a change will do me good?

    Thoughts Please!

Puh not easy. Coming from the iphone I wouldn't mind the 9860. However, having tested the 9800 I'd say the 9810 is the best when it comes to a nice keyboard and touchscreen. Then you can test drive the touchscreen and see if you could live without a keyboard. If not simply slide it open and type. Best option at the moment if you aren't sure in my opinion.

The 9810 keyboard is still a great keyboard. I would go with what I know and get a 9790 whilst waiting for BB10.

Are you able to try some out in store OP ?

Not "live" models, just dummy phones it would seem!

I shall try a few more phone stores see if they have any working models on display.

That's too bad, its strange how they expect you to make a big decision for a year or two without trying the products.

Yea, seems BB is getting relegated like Sony!

I will be lucky enough to not be taking on a contract for this one

I love my 9810, bigger screen and physical keyboard, I like the slider format and have had difficulty useing virtual keyboards, on the other hand you would need a crowbar to get my daughters 9860 out of her hand.
When BB10 is out I will go for a slider if it is produced, otherwise a physical keyboard I think, although the demos of the full touch look great too.

I think this is the best approach....save your upgrade. That's IF you don't mind being an early adopter on a new platform.

If you absolutely cannot wait, how about checking on the return policy with your carrier - restocking fee, days to return, etc. If the terms are generous, try the phone you think you want, at home, for one day below the allowed time. THEN, after having used it, you will have a better idea if it works for you.

My wife has the 9780 and was crazy for a 9900 for her upgrade next month. Now I've got her leaning towards my 9810 as she's been trying out the keyboard on it, she's finding the screen easier on the eye and liking typing on it

I would also be another person to say to save your upgrade. It may be hard, but the reward will be sweet!! If you really want to choose now, I would say either the 9810 or the 9860. They are both slightly more powerful than the 9790. Plus a big downfall of the 9790 is that is doesn't have an HD video recorder. If you want the keyboard, go the 9810 and if you want the full touchscreen experience, go with the 9860. Sounds obvious, but still a hard decision. Can't make it for ya...It is even tough for me and I'm not buying!

i would go with the 9810. best of both worlds. not the best keyboard but your still able to use all the keyboard shortcuts.

It really depends on your needs. Why wait? BBOS 10 will arrive with growing pains. BBOS 7 is a proven platform with great apps. I'm biased for 9860. RIM markets it as it's multimedia BlackBerry with HD recording.

You can always buy one as used and save your upgrade.

If you want BBOS 10 with slider keyboard, you will have to wait at least 12 months.

Easy decision, get the 9900. The 9810 keyboard is really not that good and the 9860 doesn't even have a keyboard. The 9900 screen is very nice and big enough for doing the things that BBs excel at (e-mail/BBM/phone/twitter etc).

If you must get a new BB now I would have to say the 9860. I was scared about the lack of keyboard at first but quickly realized that I could actually type faster on the touch screen. So far it is my favorite BB of all time. But on the other hand if you can wait till BB 10 I would do that.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone!

I will try and get demos of all the devices and sleep on it a few times.
I don't NEED to upgrade and yes I can also look at used devices and save my upgrade. OR I could keep enjoying my 9780

Will let you know what I decide in the end.

I just sometime wonder what I'm missing by not having O/S 7.

If you don't have a real NEED for an upgrade, then why not just wait it out until early next year and get the BB10? No point to splurge now and having to splurge again in 6 months time...

My cousin has a torch 9810 and we sometimes switch devices temporarily. I must say it's a really nice phone.
I really like the screen and the camera and I find that the battery life is slightly better than my 9900.

It's heavier and bulkier but that's not a deal breaker for me. I find the keys a little hard but maybe it is cause i'm used to the 9900 which has such a great keyboard.

The Bold 9790 seems nice but I think you should try one of the devices with a bigger screen.

Anyway, I think the 9810 is overall a great option!

If you can hang on, you should save your upgrade. I would not want to be stuck with an OS7 phone for the next two years. I'd rather be stuck with an OS6 phone for the next six months.
