Did you find yourself in a state of fury this morning because nobody seemed to be responding to your emails? Worse still, did it make you feel unloved and unpopular both personally and professionally?

Well, we can?t actually speak for how your friends and coworkers feel about you, but you can take some solace in the fact that Gmail is experiencing service disruptions.

Google posted on its Apps Status Dashboard at 10:25 a.m., ?We?re investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly.?

At 11:45 a.m., Google posted some cold, hard deets: ?The delivery of some messages is being delayed and attachments may fail to download,? according to the dashboard. ?This issue is affecting less than an estimated 0.024% of the Gmail user base.?

An hour later, they posted that the team is continuing to investigate. They should post again in about 15 minutes.

We emailed reps at Google for comment, but, well? You know.

UPDATE: As of 2:05 p.m., the outage has actually gotten more widespread, according to the Apps Status Dashboard. Delays in email service are now affecting ?less than 50% of Gmail users,? compared to the 0.024% reported previously. Google is ?continuing to investigate? and says ?thank you for your patience,? yada yada yada. Can class be cancelled now?

UPDATE 2: Google says Gmail service has been restored for some users, according to the Apps Status Dashboard. They estimated at 3 p.m. that service would be fully restored within an hour, but the timeframe could change.

Their (Google) communications strategy is bordering on Spam! I don't want to be updated every 15 to 60min! Damnit, let me sit in the dark about things for at least 12 to 24 hours. *sigh* some companies just don't get it.

Unacceptable. It's always one failure after another with Google and this is the last straw. No other company ever has failures like this and I can't see why you're all jumping to defend them like this.

In all seriousness, I was asleep from 9:00am til around 5:00pm (EST), so I probably didn't notice. =/
