Sadly yes.
Guess the author just wanted to "mail it in" today.
Unfortunately, that's what they do. We'll see the followers on here shortly to "confirm" that RIMs' going under.........again.
FYI, the link you gave was 2 weeks old. Here's the current "doom and gloom" article about Nokia and RIM. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/cell-phone...-results-river

What I see in the future for the doom and gloom crowd:
I look at RIM,nokia and Microsoft like the Boston Celtics big three. No matter what you say or do they still beat you with experience. I guess this story was so silly it couldn't hold any ground.
Old news article was written 30th May. Love when garbage gets recycled
The latest article is linked in my post.

Zdnet is redundant...another cookie cutter tech blogging site :)
Both articles in this thread are fluff pieces. The second one is a wind-bag advertisement for HTC's new phone :p
In the comments, RIM supporters (fans?) drew parallels to Apple's near demise and comeback. I don't see it. Jobs was ahead of his time, RIM is playing catch up. Huge difference.
I don't understand it either - there are significant difference between the organisation context, the make-up of the marketplace and a 100 other things beyond providing a trite example of "companies come back", the Apple come-by provides nothing relevant in regards to a critical analysis of where RIM currently is and it's chances of coming back.
I disagree completely.
Jobs was playing catchup with Macs against the PCs. Once they stabilized and brought out OSX, then they began the reinvention of the industry.
Apple STILL doesnt sell that many OSX devices compared to Windows devices. They still own a relatively small market share. Apple's comeback had to do with revolutionizing a completely different marketplace, and then another, and another.
Macs were nothing like PCs. You could also argue that the iPhone played catch up to the Blackberry. It makes about as much sense.
ZDNet is sooo 1999, does the site have any relevance today? It's a rehash of other blogs and more media feeds.
Oh I agree. They are still playing catch up to PCs.
My point is Jobs wasn't always ahead of his time when he took the reign of Apple again.
Until there are $399 Macs, Windows will continue to dominate the desktop and laptop markets.
