I was looking for a GPS/Navigation app for my 9700 and decided to load the Garmin trial download on my 9700 as I had done on my 9000 Bold with an intent on purchasing later. To my suprise, a screen popped up saying the Garmin application was not available for my particular BlackBerry.
Sooooo...I went to the Mapquest site and attempted to load that app...only to get the same notification.
What's up? RIM releases what may become their best selling smartphone ever...and the major navigation players haven't gotten on the bandwagon yet? Who can suggest another avenue for me to go with a GPS/Nav app that's as polished as these have been...and are available for my BlackBerry?

I have Garmin on my 9700. Garmin Mobile for the 9000 works on the 9700 as well.
Yeah, just talked to Garmin mobile support. They said that the 9000 version worked fine on the 9700...but there is not a trial version for the 9700 yet. I'd like to try before I invest the $100 for the full version, especially since it's device specific and can't be transfered.
And, the rep told me that there was no set ETA for a 9700-specific trial to be released. Boo!

Thats not true, i changed from Bold 9000 to 9700 and used the BB Desktopmanager Device Change Assistant. Also Garmin was transfered and works now on my BB 9700.
Just go out and buy a Garmin Nuvi for the car. I had Telenav til I got a Garmin for Christamas.
Unless you got the high-end Garmin with Traffic updates, the Nuvi (which I have a 660) is a static map & direction based system. You only have access to the installed map & software. The BB version of Garmin has current traffic info and redirects me around a serious backup or accident in real time.
Several times while I was trying both to see the difference, the BB told me to get of the highway and take a side road but the Nuvi said stay on the Highway. one such time, I stayed on the highway and was stuck on the NJ turnpike for 2 hours because of a jack-knifed tractor trailor.
