    Hi,

I have recently acquired a Blackberry 8110 Pearl, on T-mobile (UK). As I already have my own BB, I got this for my Partner. She is on Orange (UK). Obviously the phone will not work without the network lock being removed.

However I tried to do this at my local retailer, the best locally for unlocking mobile phones and he stated that if he were to remove the network lock, the use of browser and email features would become obselete.

I am confussed by this. Obviously if we set up the Orange mobile account to support the BB BIS features surely it would still work. The PIN on the phone has not been registered so I cant see any reason it would stop it from working, unless T-Mobile place a secondary block to stop people from doing this? But surely that would be unethical, and potentially illegal?

Has anyone had this problem, or can anyone shed any light on this issue?

    Kind Regards

    Alex

Yes. If you get the device unlocked you should be able to use it on any gsm network. Of course the data won't work unless you have a data plan.
