Thanks! Very informative.
Called it! MSM8655 on every new device. Clocked accordingly to low end or high end. (800 MHz-1.2 GHz)
I'm assuming this will make it easier for developing the OS and apps for each and every new Blackberry.
Can anyone answer what eMMC means for the internal storage? Does that mean we can load apps off the internal memory now? I mean 8GB is a lot for just some images and music when we can use external storage too.
That was a good find here. This is good stuff.

this states 1 ghz but i know the chip is good to over 1.7 ghz
small battery and pushing the processor to higher than what most phones run it at will be interesting indeed
Wow that's the same processor as the MyTouch 4G, the Thunderbolt, and the Xperia Play. Can't wait to see how these new 6.1 devices perform.
Yes this chip can vary in clock speeds, the EVO 7" tablet runs it at 1.5ghz
I'm assuming the HP Pre 3 too @ 1.4GHz
Also it appears that this phone supports frequencies for both AT&T and T-Mobile's HSPA networks. Looks like I could switch to T-mobile this summer and if the HSPA spectrum is stolen for AT&T's LTE then demand an AT&T SIM and still be good to go. I actually want the Monza or possibly the Torch 2, but they should have the exact same specs I'm guessing.
GSM...........
thats all i have to say
You know you want to switch back!!:D
the 9780 comes with 1500 mAh battery
this one is going to come with a smaller battery?? (1230 mAh)
with a faster processor and capacitive touch screen, why would they downgrade the battery size ?! heres to hoping they change the battery size when it actually comes out...
otherwise, the 9780 is where i will wait for newer BB's to come out...
The processor on Bold Touch is definitely efficient compared to 9700, 45nm processor architecture Vs 65nm processor architecture of 9700. Also the QC SOC has a GPU that can cut down the CPU load to increase the efficiency. RIM would have already thought about it as it is very keen on the battery life.
^ This guy spits truth!
Also....
MS1 being the 9700/9780/9800 battery and JM1 being for the 9850/9900
Why does it say in the (Planned) Regulatory Compliance box - 1725 Battery
Does this mean the battery is going to be upgraded or just that a 1725 Battery could be used if the customer wanted?
I am also assuming that 14.4 Mbps HSDPA is fast download speeds...does this class as 3G+ ?
I almost defected the other day, was so close to ringing Orange UK to upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy S - would have been willing to sit tight but the screen has gone on my 9700 and I didn't know whether to have the screen replaced 70 or just **** it and upgrade! I went on the Orange UK Web Site and it's showing the Atrix as 'Coming Soon' ! So I'm going to shell out and get the screen sorted on my Bold and wait until BWC and see whether to hold off even longer for the Bold Touch or get the Atrix!
RIM please don't do another staggered release like you're doing with the PlayBook...The UK needs some Loving too lol! :-)
No - its an IEEE standard used for compliance for rechargable batteries. See link:
Battery Certification Program
Hopefully RIM found a way to make Snapdragon processors have decent battery life. It is the only high end chip in the Android lineup that consistently has bad battery life with whatever device it is in. I hear WM7 devices aren't that great on battery either, but I believe they use the older version.
I'm thinking the same thing.

the chip is a great chip for performance for sure. Seeing what battery life the torch gets now im not sure that the torch 2 with updated specs does better. I think this might be the first set of BBs that take specs over 2 days of battery life.
i really hope they'll manage to give us awesome battery life as always, really need it..
You think so? What leads you to believe this? I hope you're right because battery life is big for me. The 45nm chipset will definitely improve process time and battery. But I hope we'll still manage at least a day with moderate to heavy usage.
just the fact that the chip runs at 1 ghz for most current devices its in. RIM is going to be running it higher and the torch for many doesnt get the best life. RIM touch screen devices dont see the same great battery life as the ones with small screens and keyboards. I dont see the newer ones being any better is all. The new non touch devices are running a 800MHZ i think will still get the normal great battery life i think. We just have to wait and see
I'm confused if you're saying it will be better or worst. They DO seem to be pushing it over the other phones out running the same chip at 1GHz. You're definitely right that the touchscreen Blackberrys don't compare to the all qwerty ones of today regarding battery.
Fortunately, we're seeing larger screens with all touch for even the Bold now. So hopefully it pushes RIM to really work on battery tech for their touch devices. Like you said, we have to wait and see because there are so many variables involved. Doesn't hurt to speculate though! :)
im saying the new curve BB will still probably get great battery because it stll has a small screen and it also will be running at 800mhz not 1.2ghz. the newer touch devices (bold touch, storm 3, torch 2) with 1.2 ghz probably arent going to get steller life. The storm series nor the torch get tremendous battery life. my storm does about as good as my inc and my tb do when it comes to batter life. I dont see the new phones really doing any better. They arent going to be 10 hours bad, but anyone used to battery life of a 9700/9780/9650 probably is going to notice a big hit in the battery dept since they are loading smaller batteries in all the phones it appears
