- Hello All,
I have tried googling and searching multiple forums and websites, the search function on this website didnt help me to much looking for keywords in the forums, anyways thats another matter.
I have my bb for quite a while, i hardly every use the bbm function on it but today out of the blue i got spammed by over 50 friend requests all withen a matter of minutes.
They still seem to be trickling in now, i have tried googling blocking friend requests which doesnt seem possible, but why has this happened and what can i do to stop the spam.
Thank You in Advance.03-06-11 01:44 PMLike 0 - you can block pin requests / pin messages
settings (options) > security > firewall > check the box next to PIN, and if you have the option, also check "Except messages from Contacts / Specific Addresses"
this may or may not stop them from coming... if you put your PIN number up on a different part of the internet, it's possible someone took it and ran like heck with it..
[[edit]] also, if you hardly use it, why not just delete it and tell your current contacts to get hold of you via sms/other IM service? it's a waste of 2MB, and space on a BB is precious..03-06-11 02:53 PMLike 0 - Did one of your friends post your PIN somewhere? Try doing a Google search using your PIN to see if it shows up somewhere.
The other possibility is that somebody else posted his/her PIN, and your PIN is only one number or letter different from your's.03-06-11 03:01 PMLike 0 - For what it's worth, the only time I got PIN spam was when I used to have my PIN in my signature. I removed it and after a short while the spam stopped. I agree with the others, the most likely explanation is your PIN is "out there" on a public site where it can be harvested. (And if it is a used device, then you've inhertied this problem from ealier user.)03-06-11 03:56 PMLike 0
