You NAILED it. Yep. You can give all the advice you want. But when your friend gets to the carrier store that's the end of that. Lol.

My friend who is an Android user and has a really old Droid Incredible LTE asked me if he should get a BlackBerry 10 phone. Regardless of the merits of it, or lack thereof, I told him stick with Android. Since that's what was 99.9999% likely to happen.

Love it that the OP doesn't see the fact that by saying the Z30 can load Android apps he virtually suggested his mate get an Android phone....

For Android apps an s4 is much better than a z30.....

It is better on a BlackBerry without BES. It's just that with BES it's even better!

You do realize this kind of fanboism towards Blackberry is just as bad as Apple fanboys (and girls) lecturing people to buy Apple devices right?

Your friend probably did her or his own research in addition to talking to you and decided that Galaxy S4 was a better fit for the purpose.

I will be getting a Blackberry but I talked to people with Windows phones and Iphones about their opinions and of course they told me to get their devices respectively, but I had to make the decision on my own in the end.

I will not understand people who see the need to emotionally connect to a brand. In the end, it is just a piece of electronics device that you will most likely throw away after 2 years (American average for a phone life span), and some of you even get multiple devices within a year as well.

I will go with a Q10 as it fits my needs the best at this time, but I will move to another brand in future if I see a better phone.

However its a dual purpose or business only phone using an apple or samsung makes absolutely no sense. they offer few productivity features and if anything are handicapped by features they have For some 20 something kid or younger that just wants a smartphone unless you can convince they they can be unique by getting the blackberry chances are they will be brainwashed by some salesperson or friend who thought it was cool that they could play flappybird and use snapchat on it. Thats not going to be easy or simple to persuade otherwise. Thats why the whole corporate sales angle makes so much sense. Do the average CEO types want to play games and look at instagram. Possibly but not likely. They want to get things done and they want to do it quickly and hopefully with some privacy through bbm. if they make BBM the center of the OS and then work everything around it they can really make the phone super useful for business. In the article on the possibilities for blackberry and the chance to move by skype for the position of the number one business communications tool it says they can add the features necessary to make this happen. If anyone watched the george zimmerman trial you would have to laugh when they had a witness come on in the court through skype and then someone hacked into the conversation during the questioning. Is that the kind of thing you want in a courtroom? im thinking not. Its all to common with skype its an easy way for hackers to access your information as well. So there are some unique situations for blackberry i think the idea that blackberry can compete against the big boys is just not going to happen not in the consumer space at least. If they want there niche market they have to make it. Its not to say blackberry is going away its just to say they are going to pick their battles very carefully.

You shouldn't be surprised he /she didn't buy a phone you told them to buy.

Ultimately it is their decision. I wouldn't accuse brainwashing either. While indeed the masses are inclined to opt for ios and android, there is no evidence, no peer reviewed research that shows blackberries are superior in any way shape or form. It's just an opinion and a matter of taste. What u like is different to what someone else likes.

Also, you can go wrong with android apps on bb. I'm still having lots of problems. There is a long way to go before we can say android apps work on BlackBerry in the sense that they actually work the way an app would work from BlackBerry world.

    This is my opinion nyway.

I kept suggesting the z10 and the Q10 but he thought it's gonna be laggy like the older devices, he also hated battery pulls the most.
He couldn't afford the iPhone and he said he'll probably get the lumia, I told him they lack apps just like blackberry but at least with blackberry you can load android apps.
He ended up buying the S4 active ( that phone is the ugliest phone I've ever seen)

Support from BlackBerry is free if you follow the proper procedures.
You need to call your service provided and after some technical support, if they cannot rectify the issue you can be ask to be transferred directly to BlackBerry support. BlackBerry support also has 3 tier levels that can assist you. Try it.

Also the rep should know the carrier code for their own company.
    No carrier code needed.
I wonder how this worked out for these guys???...
Email and general sync issue - delayed - BlackBerry Support Community Forums
Rogers Blackberry Email tech support fail.
    For example...
SOLUTION!!!! I called Verizon Wireless technical support and got them to open a ticket with Blackberry Technical Support. They did and transferred me over to them. I had to get through Blackberry's first level technical support first. I pressed and ultimately got through to their 2nd level technical support. I pleaded my case yet a 3rd time (i.e., 1st to VZW tech support, 2nd to Blackberry 1st level tech support and 3rd to Blackberry 2nd level technical support). Once they really understood the issue, they put in an exception for my domain within the Blackberry Internet Service that basically makes it so anytime an email under my domain is setup within the BIS, it would immediately treat it as a GMail based email account (i.e., without checking the MX records for my domain). All is good now! In the future, if I change from using Google Apps for my domain, I will have to call Blackberry and get them to remove the exception for my domain (i.e., going back through the chain of VZW to Blackberry technical support to avoid having to pay per incident with Blackberry).

There might not even be a Z30 available for a customer to try out and compare. And extra features such as Miracast, USB to go , 25 hour battery life was probably not pointed out by sales rep.

I kept suggesting an Android device to my daughter since she was already vested in that ecosystem but she chose the Z10 after having issues with her two MyTouch phones (one by HTC and one by Huawei) and a Samsung Galaxy tablet. She is very happy.

This may have worked for you but here in Canada with rogers weather they know there carrier code or not they claim they don't. probably because the don't want to take the time to help. There solution to every issue is we have to reload the software. "that will fix the problem" Lol. Anyway it sounds like you had to go through hoops yourself to get the help you required from Berry. Very poor business practice. If they want us to buy there products you should support the loyal following. they don't and that is my point. Customer service is imperative in any company that wishes to succeed today. Clearly Blackberry does not care about the customer.

Later when the PC had a problem they'd come to me and I'd have to fix whatever piece of garbage they bought after they told me why the salesperson knew more than I did.

So, that mini rant over, when someone asks you what phone to buy, the answer is always "Whatever you want." saves on frustration later. When it breaks it's not your fault that way.

Just let it go OP. You are off the hook. Any shortcomings he might find with his own selection, he can't hang it on you. If you are happy with your Z30, that should be enough.

I would argue that corporate executives would want to check social media in this day and time. Most companies that provide goods and services directly to end users are represented on social media. Good executives, all the way up to the CEO, should at least periodically monitor the content and the reactions on their companies' social media feeds. T-Mobile US' CEO is very active in social media. Other companies such as AT&T and Esquire found out the hard way (after insensitive tweets were posted on 9/11/13) that reviewing the content the company puts on social media is important.

Look around. The thought that executives want BlackBerry devices has faded. There are more iPhones in corner offices these days than some care to admit to.

When I ask someone which phone to get I have obviously no idea myself. But whatever was the particular case here, I was more generally speaking. And generally speaking, 90 or 95% of smartphone buyers (read: average consumers) make their purchasing decision just like that if you ask me. I have spoken to many people regarding this and I'd bet my house on this theory. So I was just responding to that "he just bought what he likes best" claim, as IMO, most people don't buy the phone they like best, but rather the phone they think they will like best.
