- I have been on this for sometime, but today's coverage pushed me to finish it! So here it is, my concept of the 10.3 UI. Not very crazy different! I have based it on the current design framework, picked up some from the advertising campaign Blackberry had for the Z10 and BB10 and some of it is my rendering
So here it is:
The Home Screen:
After swiping up, you get to this:
There are two section, the first one shows the date and time, maybe a weather console can be put there...I wasn't sure, so did not put it. The second section, is fully customisable. One can select what info needs to be displayed there, either calender, or may be feeds, news, emails, whatever the user adds. Notice the settings gear, from where this setting can be customised.
Now the hub is the same, you swipe from left to get to the hub, or do the inverted L. Once you swipe from right to left, the lower section(where the events are displayed currently) maximises and covers the whole screen and apps are populated, like this:
The time info crunches and becomes what it has in the above screen. Forgive me for the bad icons, but didn't have the time to make new icons, but I am guessing the icons would be flatter than this.
The quick settings remain where they were. All the other things remain what they are in 10.2.1. However in the current scheme, the active frames would appear where the tasks currently are, giving you a better management system and not too many screens to swipe to. You can scroll up and down if you have more than two apps open. It should look like this:
So what do you guys think?03-19-14 02:29 PMLike 13 - I would like to see auto shutdown and reboot features as well...and auto mode change

- Ummm...yea...maybe...but probably you need to sacrifice something for some other convenience...
Or may be one can choose to have nothing in the events section...that way the image gets blocked only when the app screen is on...
On my Z1003-19-14 02:59 PMLike 0 - Just give me widgets nuff said. And app for the weather is a joke, a widget the info is just .... there..... with an app you have to click, which I never do, so I deleted it. It's useless my tv turns on on a timer and goes the weather channel -- my TV can do something my blackberry cant auto present information.03-19-14 03:03 PMLike 0

My question is...what program did you use for these design mockups? I have ideas regarding the OS as well and have NO CLUE how to put it into a design like this...what program did you use and did you take screen shots of your phone in order to create the screen? Im guessing thats what you did and then used whatever program to create the bars and other things on top of what was on your screen?
Please let me know, I have great ideas (I think) but no clue how to show everyone!Anadi Athaley likes this.03-19-14 03:25 PMLike 1 - I took screen shots of the phone and then edited on Photoshop CS5..

- OH right ACTIVE Frames -- How could I forget about those... Except they are only active until closed... can I pin them? Having to remember to keep reopening is lame. I have other things to worry about or what about a restart? Widgets come back to need to open anything to have my ACTIVE Frame come back. Workarounds at this point are just become a little disheartening.
I want to customize my BBRY thats what it was about from the start. What about Profiles? can I be on silent and have my gf call saying shes been in an accident? Nope I'm in a meeting so silent apperantly mean screw off to everyone (no level 1 alerts). What about vibe lengths? one short would be a bbm, one long was an email, 2 long was a reminder and multiple long was a call. I knew if I had to check just based on the vibe length!
How many lines of code does that take? Apparently too many for BBRY.
Workarounds need Solutions. And they are working hard but I dont feel like they are focusing in the right area's they need to polish way faster than this. Visit the forums and see what people want and just throw them in.

And you are a genious for doing so.

In love. BlackBerry should have done this. They should have. Totally. I don't get why you have call/search/camera on that gorgeous lock screen though.
Like I said to the other designer... We need a 105% departure from the BB7 feel. The icons here are too much like BB10 (which is too much like BB7). They have to go. I don't like the cog on top right. Too much Android for me. We do have the option to swipe from the top so what's the use?
This is all interesting. Not sure what I think of it, would have to see it in action, but if it can bring multitasking speed to it's extremes, I am all for it.
So what do you guys think?03-19-14 04:01 PMLike 0 -
Firstly, that is not the lock-screen, it is the home screen. The apps coming directly is too jarring in my opinion, hence, after you open the lock, thats the home screen...and that is why the phone, search and camera bar...
The lock screen will have more stuff, like the flashlight, calender and camera buttons!
Secondly, the cog on top exists for too reason, first to show the time all the time without having to access any buttons, along with the date...I have added this out of my own inconvenience...and the animation i have imagined would totally justify the cog...imagine the bigger time blocks from the home screen compress and become that, while the blurry box underneath throws itself all over the wallpaper blurring it...(I know it sounds too dramatic! :P)
Will be improving the design and come up with something better...I don't know how much do-able this is...I just like to design and have fun!03-19-14 04:14 PMLike 0 - Idk what to think of the second picture with the app pane.
But I really like your first and last pictures but rather then using it as a home screen, I think we would be perfect LOCK SCREENs! Lol sorry I got excited.
The first picture speaks for itself as a lock screen but the third picture can be a feature that the user selects their favorite apps as active frames that can be peaked at while the screen is locked and can be tapped to directly unlock the phone to the app similar to how we have lock screen notifications now. But with your modern design.03-19-14 05:19 PMLike 0 - 03-19-14 05:21 PMLike 0
