Interested to know what will be in and/or what the next facebook for blackberry will be like? Hot off the tip-line, we’ve been sent these three images of what are said to be screen captures for facebook 2.0! Blackberry users have been quite in a fit that the facebook app hasn’t been up to par when placed against the versions for iphone or android devices. Luckily, facebook 2.0 looks to leverage the playing field by bringing equality to all. Here are some of the specs:

* facebook chat
* ui refresh
* view friends’ profile info, pages and friends lists
* improved core app integration

facebook 2.0 is said to have an official target release date of may 2011, with an even earlier beta 2 release projected for march 2011. So, who is excited about finally getting the fb chat in the official app?

Hopefully it will actually HAVE chat and also incorporate text formatting.

aka dont as don't automatically and automatic capitalization. i to I saturday to Saturday etc. while typing.

The current version doesn't and it ticks me off.

It was always in RIMs Facebook for Blackberry roadmap for 2.0 to have chat capabilities. I'm glad they followed through with it.

I think it's safe to say it will come with other goodies like BBM6, BB6.1, BIS 4.0 and new devices at BB World.

I agree it's about time. I always thought RIM should be ashamed of the Facebook BB app, missing critical features and slow. Hopefully this will bring it in line with the Facebook apps on other platforms. You just have to look at the list of best selling apps in AppWorld and three or four of them are Facebook Chat apps.

(On the other hand, I love Twitter for BB.)

Exactly. For even the modest goals the current version has, it usually fails. They should stop pretending there is an actual facebook app, when there is clearly only an alpha.

They really should hurry with this release because the current Facebook for BlackBerry sucks. It's very basic and limited. I will welcome the integrated chat also.
