I was playing with low end wp phone (a lumia 520 i guess)the other day for one hour, it's so smooth was considering purchase one with that low price.

But it's so restricted and with no file manager. Maybe next time wp...

But I'm glad bbm finally come to wp.

    According to the blog post

BBM will be available as a free download for Windows Phone users this summer.

Windows Phone and Nokia X to get BBM in Coming Months | Inside BlackBerry
So yeah, it will be too late to capitalize on the privacy hype. It could ship from June to September

    But better late than never?

Yes it really is late, it would've been great if they could've announced a short term (next month!) availability for both Windows Phone and their new X-series devices.
Other services like Threema or Telegram really get hyped, while almost nobody talks about BBM as a serious WhatsApp alternatives. This way BBRY could've drawn more attention for BBM.

This is good. I'm also hoping for a BlackBerry 10 Cascades version of Skype as well as a desktop based BBM.

Also hoping they allow multiple device signin soon. I hated having two BBM accounts to keep work and home going.

Hmmm... when I first saw this announcement, I thought: "great, now that BBM can claim true cross-platform reach, things might start to look up for BBM"

But, honestly guys... "coming months", "Summer", and (dear Lord, will they never learn?) "soon"!

We're still in February, and "soon" reduces the chances of anyone on WinPhone still caring when BBM4ALL becomes reality.

They need to push this stuff out soon. They should have been working on the app, announce it and release it within a month. They speak way to far ahead!

I wanna say a big f*ck you to Microsoft... look at BlackBerry, such nice people... they've decided to support their product users on rival platforms, but Microsoft swore they'd never build a native BlackBerry 10 Skype.

If BB10 gets big enough, a lot of big name players will change their attitude towards native apps for this plattform. No matter what they might say right now. Last but not least BBM for Windows Phone is good for BBM and after all it is good for BlackBerry.

Thankfully this app will follow Microsoft's design language unlike the iOS/Android BBM apps where it looks like a BB10 app. Not that that's a bad thing, I just don't care for the design language of them.

There is no point to even make bbm for to little too late WP. I don't know anyone who has a WP and I have never heard anyone talk about WP and since WP lacks a ton of apps it is now DOA .

This is good news as long as it will work on phones running Windows 7.5 such as the Lumia 800, which my wife has.

Lol they want companies to "care about the minority" and directly ignore the minority that actually has a larger market share than us BlackBerry owners. xD

I'd be surprised if the 7.x devices get BBM (or most new apps). 7.x is on its way out.

Oh well if that's the case I'll have to try and persuade her to switch back to BlackBerry when she is due an upgrade later this year. I know for sure that she won't be sticking with a windows phone!
