A few questions about wifi. First one is that whenever I search for a wifi signal it is always weak even if I am right next to the wireless router. It will only have a bar or 2. Second is that when I run a speed test it only test at around 300kb down. Does anyone else have this problem? I am using the extreme labs speed test which worked well on my blackberry tour.

Speed w/ or w/out WiFi on?

I don't have the same signal problems you describe--I have full bars here at work right now. My speed test result is well above 300kB down.

With either. I very rarely get full bars on my wifi signal.

I am only 15 feet from the router and getting 1 to 2 bars.

Same here as well... the max has always been 2. I've got my house well covered... all my other devices show a very strong wifi signal. What gives?

I've got 3 bars on my WiFi...but the router is literally sitting on my desk where I'm currently working.

Usually at home I only have 2 bars, but the speed seems to be just fine.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one. What do you get for download speed? Is there a good program or website i can check it on?

Might as well add me to the list. Weak as **** 15 ft away with one wall in between.

I get strong 3G everywhere so it hardly matters to me but still....

Is there anything that can be done about this?

    Not now.

RIM has admitted in the past that the WIFI is weak due to some algorithm it uses.

Hopefully they will fix it in the future.

I have Curve 8900 has does the same thing.

Well this is certainly something I'm NOT looking forward to in regards to my future upgrade to the Storm 2. Wifi is one of the main reasons I'm interested in upgrading anyway. Hopefully this issue will be resolved fairly quickly, although I'm not holding my breath.

Well I can still scan for networks and find them from far away but they will be a very weak signal.

I don't seem to have a problem with the signal strength at home or anywhere else on WiFi. I stay in hotels 2 to 3 times a week and always get a strong enough signal to connect to WiFi where my itouch WiFi won't even pick up a signal and rarely gets one strong enough to connect to at hotels. On the other hand the Storm 2's WiFi is a lot slower than I would expect it to be no matter the signal strength.

Are you using the "Hotspot Browser"? Because I've found the speeds to be quite impressive on mine when browsing over WiFi.

Yeah I use it but really can't tell a big difference if any.
