Extra Symbols for BB

So I'm trying to get some extra symbols for my BB. Read in another thread that you can get them off wingdings but when I email the wingdings like it says further up on the thread all I get is &#9832 as an example. I'm super confused??? Could someone explain this to me better or even pin me some cool symbols pretty please?? I'd really appreciate it!! My pin is:319b13fd. Please someone help me feel like throwing the darn thing.
